ONLINE PETITION IN NAME OF BIANCA AND THE BRAZILIAN VEGETARIAN SOCIETY. THEY ARE BEING SUED FOR ORGANIZING AN ACTIVISM IN DEFENSE OF SHAKIRA, A BOXER BREEDED DOG THAT HAS BEEN ABUSED
ONLINE PETITION IN NAME OF BIANCA AND THE BRAZILIAN VEGETARIAN SOCIETY. THEY ARE BEING SUED FOR ORGANIZING AN ACTIVISM IN DEFENSE OF SHAKIRA, A BOXER BREEDED DOG THAT HAS BEEN ABUSED
Bianca Kolling Turano is a Brazilian activist and coordinator of "GRUPO RIO", the Brazilian Vegetarian Society (SVB), in Rio de Janeiro, the state of Rio de Janeiro. She is an militant Animal Liberation Movement, is being sued along with the SVB, because of their acts on behalf and in defense of animals.
The fact:
Bianca Turano has witnessed a continuous state of isolation imposed on a Boxer dog called Shakira. This bitch, who lived alone most of days and nights in a balcony apartment with 12m², with little contact with humans, showed visible signs of depression and sadness. Photos were taken on site that show these circumstances.
Bianca Turano was not the only witness of the isolation and confinement experienced by Shakira the Boxer, a neighbor had also noticed the abuse. This neighbor filed a lawsuit against those responsible for the dog, who was given temporary custody through a preliminary injunction that was later repealed. With the repeal of the injunction, the animal had to return to it’s former guardians.
Attitude:
Why care about the fate and welfare of Shakira Bianca Turano addressed a letter to the animal’s owner related their concern. With no malicious intent, the activist reported the situation of isolation and confinement experienced by Boxer Shakira to other activists in favor of animal rights as well as participating in an event opened by the release of Shakira.
Bianca Turano’s activism on behalf of Shakira was reported on by newspapers and television. Because of this, Bianca meet two lawsuits and the Brazilian Vegetarian Society responds to a process, it is interesting to clarify that SVB is a non-profit organizations nationwide, working for that vegetarianism is known and accepted as an option food beneficial to human health, animals and the planet.
Legal proceedings:
Bianca Turano and SVB are being processed by those responsible for Shakira, who resent the fact that the activists have exposed the situation of isolation and confinement to which the dog was subjected every day to the public eye. The accused tried in every way to make conciliatory that Shakira would be better protected, looking, as a citizen and as an activist for animal rights, to publicize the issue also in order to obtain material evidence. In no time, Bianca tried to promote herself and win new adherents to the cause of Vegetarianism. In short, Bianca acted with the intention of improving the situation experienced by the Shakira the Boxer.
Activism:
Bianca has always been very dedicated to causes related to vegetarianism, particularly veganism. She is primarily a defender of animals which, unfortunately, are killed to become food for human consumption. Even if SHE is above all an advocate of cattle, goats, pigs and other animals for consumption, She proved to be supportive in helping Shakira and in no way thought of to exploit this fact to gain fame and fans to vegetarianism.
Bianca holds a stall in activity in the neighborhood of Gloria, in Rio de Janeiro, every Saturday, for the promotion of vegetarianism and related services, and organizing and participating in various actions of activism.
As proof of her dedicated efforts, Bianca was awarded Activist of the Year by the Brazilian Vegetarian Society, the 12th Vegan Festival, held at the Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro, between 22 and 25 July 2009.
